Santa Margarita, California, was founded in 1889. The town is located along state route 89, near Cuesta Peak. Santa Margarita is home to the Santa Margarita de Cortona Asistencia, a sub-mission to Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. The town is small, with a population of only 1,259 as of the 2010 census. Because of Santa Margarita’s small size, finding a treatment center within the town may be difficult. Luckily, there are several programs located nearby, within San Luis Obispo county.
Like much of California, Santa Margarita has its share of drug and alcohol abuse. One of the most dangerous drugs being circulated throughout the state is fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that can easily cause the death of those who form an addiction to it. Thankfully, help is available, even to those deep in addiction, in the form of California rehab centers located near the town.
For those who face struggles with addiction, help is available near Santa Margarita, California. The first step in treatment is typically a detoxification program. The purpose of detox is to give clients a safe space to allow the toxins from drug and alcohol abuse to leave their bodies. Detox programs are supervised by medical professionals, making them a much safer option than detoxing at home. Addictive substances cause withdrawal. Some substances, like alcohol, can even cause medically significant withdrawal symptoms, including death. This danger is why it is essential to detox under doctor supervision. Detox programs vary in length, depending on the addiction’s severity and the addictive substance used. After detox, clients can think much more clearly, and their bodies are more ready for the healing process of treatment. Treatment is still necessary even after detox has been completed. The actual treatment program is where you will learn how to avoid triggers, build coping skills, attend therapies, and re-learn how to live a life free of drugs and alcohol.
There are two different treatment options for those attending rehab, known as inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment. Inpatient treatment involves living on the treatment center campus for the duration of the program. This type of program is commonly recommended for more severe addiction or cases where the client may face triggers in their everyday home life. Outpatient treatment requires clients to attend treatment on campus during the day but gives them the option to return home at night. This treatment option is useful to those who have a support system to return to at home.
The length of your treatment will vary depending on several factors, including the type of treatment, the severity of the addiction, length of the addiction, and the addictive substance being abused. Most inpatient stays last at least 30 days but may extend upwards of 90 days.
Whether or not you feel comfortable with traveling to receive treatment is up to you. While traveling for treatment may seem more complicated than attending a rehab center close to your location, there is actually a multitude of reasons one may want to attend treatment away from where they live.
The first reason is it increases your privacy. Attending a treatment program in another city or state means it’s unlikely you will see anyone familiar to you. This gives you a distraction-free chance at healing. Public figures like celebrities, high profile business people, and those involved in politics often elect to travel for treatment as it keeps them out of the public eye.
Traveling for treatment also makes you more likely to focus on the rehabilitation experience. Your mindset regarding treatment may improve as well, as you get a sense of renewal and starting over. Being in an unfamiliar place increases your likelihood of finishing your rehab program as well. Clients who attend treatment in their hometown often feel like they might leave rehab when treatment becomes difficult. Being in a new area may dissuade you from exiting the program.
Lastly, a willingness to travel for treatment gives you a better chance of finding a program that fits you best. You’ll have more options to choose from than if you were to stay in your hometown for treatment.
Choosing to attend treatment for substance abuse is a big decision. That’s why finding the right treatment center can seem so overwhelming. With many different programs and services, choosing the right rehabilitation center can seem like trying to find a needle in a haystack. However, if you break your treatment center criteria down into categories, determining what you want from your treatment center program can be a breeze.
Detox Program: It’s best to attend treatment programs that offer an initial detox program for their clients. Detox allows your body to rid itself of any toxins from substance abuse before beginning your actual treatment program.
One of the most important things to clients is the cost of their treatment program. The cost of a rehabilitation center stay in Santa Margarita varies greatly, as it does in all of California. Many high-end programs are available, with a number of amenities and services. However, these programs are typically considered to be on the pricey side.
On the other hand, there are also low-cost and no-cost services available to those who need them. These services typically include fewer amenities but still retain the most critical aspects of treatment.
No matter your financial situation, you can find help for drug and alcohol addiction without breaking the bank. With the right amount of research, help is always available.
There are several different ways to cover the cost of your treatment center stay. Most clients who attend rehab programs pay for their visits utilizing their personal health insurance. In California, your insurance provider is required to cover part or all of your treatment center stay under your behavioral health coverage. The amount of coverage you receive will depend on your specific insurance plan, so it is recommended to call your insurance company for that information before deciding what program you wish to attend.
The most common insurance types that may cover treatment costs are:
Those who don’t have health insurance should not be discouraged from finding help for substance abuse issues. There are always options for receiving treatment, regardless of your financial situation. California has many low-cost and no-cost treatment programs available for those who cannot pay treatment fees out of pocket. These programs typically have a waitlist, but waiting to get help is still a better option than not receiving treatment at all.
Additionally, most treatment facilities are willing to work out payment plans with their clients in order to afford their treatment. Payments are typically made monthly until your balance is paid off. Another option for paying for treatment out of pocket is getting a loan from your bank or asking friends and family for financial assistance. No matter your situation, getting help for substance abuse issues is always an option.

We have a 7 to 10 day detox program. Medications are given on a taper system, and dosage is determined by a licensed physician. The length of detox is determined upon by appointment.

We also encourage taking Epsom salt baths to help aid in muscle relaxation. Melatonin and valerian root may be given to help the client sleep.
