Where is Paso Robles, CA?

Paso Robles is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California. It is located along coastal Highway 101 about midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Paso Robles, short for the city’s official name of El Paso de Robles (Spanish for “The Pass of Oaks”), is known as a world-class wine region.

There are over 40,000 vineyard acres that produce more than 40 types of wine grapes and about 200 tasting rooms. The city is also known for its almond orchards, production of olive oil, and natural hot springs. Paso Robles is considered to be a safe place to live, with a laid-back vibe and small-town cowboy charm. It is home to just over 31,000 residents.

However, like other San Luis Obispo County cities, Paso Robles has its share of substance abuse, addiction, and drug overdoses. While alcohol is still the city’s most abused substance, opioids are causing more overdoses and deaths. The advent of fentanyl has created problems in Paso Robles, mostly with fentanyl-laced street opioids that are manufactured and sold in the area. While there is substance abuse and addiction present in Paso Robles, and there is a limited number of addiction treatment centers in the city, there is help available not too far away. Within 120 miles of the city, you can find every type of addiction treatment program there is.

Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment in Paso Robles, CA

If you live in the Paso Robles area and struggle with substance abuse or addiction, there is help available. San Luis Obispo County has numerous drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers where you can attend programs to help you break your cycle of addiction. The first step toward recovery is a detoxification program.

In detox, all substances have time to metabolize and get out of your body. The detox process can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, dangerous, so you should never attempt to detox on your own. At a medically supervised detox center, your vital signs will be closely monitored, and you may be given medications to help alleviate the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms.

After completing detox, you will go on to outpatient or inpatient treatment. Which level of care to choose is your decision, but your detox doctor will likely make a recommendation about which one will be the better option for you. When you go to inpatient treatment, you will receive individual and group therapies, addiction education, learn new coping skills, and relapse prevention.

Some inpatient treatment programs offer specialized therapies, as well. This type of program offers the best chances for long-term sobriety and recovery. Outpatient treatment is also an option. If you cannot be away from home for that long due to school, work, or family obligations, outpatient treatment may be the best option. Outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment includes many of the same elements as inpatient treatment but on a less intensive scale. With outpatient treatment, you will not have residential around-the-clock care and support.

Should I Consider Traveling for Treatment?

One thing to think about when you are looking for an addiction treatment center is whether you should go to one in another city or state. For many people traveling for treatment is a good option. It’s especially helpful if you live in a city with limited choices of drug and alcohol treatment facilities. Just because you find a place close to home, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to be the right fit for you. Considering other locations will broaden your options and make it more likely that you’ll find the perfect program for your needs.

Additionally, traveling for treatment may improve your mindset about recovery. It provides a sense of starting over with a blank slate, which can be helpful in early recovery. If you are someone in a high-profile career or you need to protect your local reputation (for example, if you’re a politician, clergyman, or local celebrity), the added distance may provide you with some added privacy.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, going to a treatment center that is far away from home makes it more likely that you will stay and complete your program. Giving up and going home isn’t as easy when you’re in another city or state and traveling arrangements have to be made.

Choosing the Right Addiction Treatment Center

One size does not fit all when it comes to drug and alcohol treatment centers. What is comfortable and effective for you may not be for someone else. That’s why it can seem overwhelming to find the right one for you. However, it’s important to the success of your recovery. You should choose a rehab center based on your individual needs. That means you will have to do some research and make some phone calls to find the place where you will be most comfortable – but it will be worth it. Here are some of the questions to ask as you search for the right addiction treatment center:

  • Does the treatment center have accreditation and licensing?
  • Are the staff members licensed, or do they have credentials?
  • Do they treat your type of addiction?
  • What is the ratio of staff to patients?
  • Are their treatment approaches evidence-based?
  • What is the length of their programs?
  • What are the success rates of the program?
  • Do they provide treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders?
  • Are there programs that offer treatments for specific groups, like teens, adults, older people, men only, women only, or other populations as it applies to you?
  • Do the programs offer family participation and support for family members
  • Does the addiction center accept your insurance?
  • Do they offer aftercare programs for program graduates?

How Much Does Drug Rehab Cost in Paso Robles, CA?

There are various types of addiction treatment centers and programs that all have different costs. Many of the rehabs in San Luis Obispo County are affordable, while some luxury rehabs are quite expensive. Whatever your budget is, you can find the help you need to get clean and sober; even low-cost and free rehabs are available.

The level of care you need (outpatient or inpatient), the location, the length of the program, and the services and amenities offered all impact the overall cost of treatment. Remember, whatever the cost of treatment is, getting clean and sober will be worth it.

How Do I Pay for Addiction Treatment in Paso Robles, CA?

Most people who go to addiction treatment in California use their health insurance benefits to help cover the cost of the program. How much your insurance covers depends on your individual policy. In California, insurance providers are required to provide assistance for substance abuse treatment, so you can be sure that at least a portion of the cost will be covered. The remaining amount will have to be covered out-of-pocket. Some treatment facilities will help you with a payment plan so you can pay the balance over time after completing the program.

What if I Don’t Have Insurance Coverage for Rehab?

Even if you don’t have any health insurance to help with the cost of addiction treatment, you can still find help. There are many low-cost and free treatment center options in the county that provide quality care and addiction programs. You can check to see if the facilities you are interested in offer sliding scale prices, financial aid, scholarships, or payment plans to help with the cost.

Failing that, don’t be afraid to ask supportive loved ones to help you pay for your treatment. It’s very likely that they want you to get the help you need as much as you do. A bank loan is another option if you are eligible to apply. Then you can make monthly payments to pay the balance over time
